Research progress of random lasers with tunable output performances
Abstract

Random lasers have broad potential applications in many fields of speckle-free imaging, biological sensing, information security, and optoelectronics due to their unique characteristics of low spatial coherence, flexible design, and simple structure. In recent years, researchers have paid more attention to regulating the output performances of random lasers to further satisfy their practical application requirements in different fields. Therefore, understanding the working mechanism of random lasers and summarizing the methods of regulating the random lasing optical field have important guiding significance for promoting the random laser. Here, we review the development of random lasers, focusing on the working mechanism of random lasers. The research progress on tunable output performances is then systematically reviewed. Finally, we give the prospects and challenges in random lasers.
